Designed by JunkFoodArcades and manufactured by Kailh, this exclusive low profile switch is optimised for gaming, due to its low actuation point of 1.0mm, its linear profile and a relatively low actuation force of 45gf.

JunkFoodArcades is known for their premium arcade controllers. With years of experience under their belt, they know as no other what performance gaming requires. Quick actuation ensures that your gear can keep up with your reflexes, and a moderately low actuation force both reduces wear on your muscles, as well as still being high enough for you to not accidentally misfire.

Most other choc switches actuate at 1.5mm, compared to the 1.0mm actuation of this Amber switch. The actuation point determines at which distance the switch makes contact and sends a signal to your computer. A lower actuation point thus means a smaller delay between you pressing the switch and your keyboard or controller sending the command over to your computer or console.

These switches come factory-lubed. Lubricant fills slight imperfections that exist in any material, providing for a smoother feel and less noise while using the switches.

Remarks

  • Kailh Low Profile switches are only compatible with keycaps that are made for them. They are not compatible with other keycaps, for example those for MX switches,
  • The Amber Kailh Low Profile switches have five pins: the two metal switch pins, a center post and two side posts which are part of the bottom housing.
    • Side posts can be clipped using flush cutters if the keyboard doesn't support side posts. These days, most keyboards do support side posts.
    • Side posts give some extra stability and alignment to switches, which is useful when hot swapping switches and when using a keyboard without a case.
