Myriad Expansion Module
Myriad is a module system. But for those who are really into modules... you can add modules to your modules! With this Expansion module, you can add a QWIIC and VIK port to your Myriad-enabled keyboard, enabling the use of a large ecosystem of existing and new modules.
What's Myriad?
Myriad is a system that allows you to plug in modules to add new functionality to your keyboard, all without having to solder. It's an open source standard, meaning that anyone will be able to create their own modules, which you can then plug into your keyboard. It's a very capable standard, so we're very curious to see what other modules you will come up with!
What's QWIIC?
Qwiic, or the Qwiic connect system, is a system developed by SparkFun Electronics in order to make prototyping with I2C easier. It lets you daisy chain supported modules, making it easy to combine functionality and make cool new things.
What's VIK?
VIK is a relatively young standard, developed by Sadek Baroudi of fingerpunch.xyz, as an accessible standard between keyboard PCBs and additional features. We'll be doing much more with this standard at splitkb.com in the future, too!
What's included?
This bundle includes one part:
- 1 × Expansion module: A card with a QWIIC and VIK port on it. The onboard switch enables or disables the 5V supply to the VIK port, which is used when connecting a Cirque trackpad to the Expansion card.
Remarks
Using this module does mean you'll need to write and compile your own firmware: support for any QWIIC or VIK module you plug in won't exist out of the box, unless the module includes instructions for how to use it with Myriad.
